Service Description
Our Worldmaker’s Salon is a learning community examinining internalized oppression and developing sovereign ways of being. Each salon teaches worldmaking as a tool for self-inquiry within the cult of injustice. Biweekly, we come together to deconstruct the culture of injustice within ourselves and our everyday practices to reconstruct sovereign ways of being that build worlds beyond injustice. In our salons, we believe self-study is critical to steward life-affirming futures. We know anti-oppressive worlds cannot be created and sustained if we continue to carry oppressive imagination. To combat this, our salons do not just focus on examining the world around us, but support us in bravely examining our worlds within. Our Worldmaker's Salon integrates social theory, humanities, and spirituality to support members in studying themselves within and outside of systemic injustice. Each salon is an investigation of the relationship between our self-concept and the cult of injustice. Throughout the month, we deconstruct the ordinariness of injustice and its occupation with our everyday lives. Following this investigation, we welcome new ideas, practices, and standards for life-affirming futures. Outside the Salon, we provide you with an independent study curriculum (i.e., readings, activities, exercises, meditations) that support us in building ourselves beyond injustice. Our Worldmaker’s Salon meets biweekly on Wednesdays for a communal exchange of wisdom. Inside the salon, members are co-theorist in examining the normalization of injustice and the pathways to dismantling it within. Following each salon session, members use the open weeks in the month for praxis. Applying insights from their independent study work, members co-create cultural imaginaries that lead to sovereignty.
